Nature Sings

New perspectives ON BOTANICAL Art

The Byrne Gallery is pleased to announce “Nature Sings,” a new exhibition that broadens the definition of botanical art at The Byrne Gallery in Middleburg, Virginia. The exhibition will be available to the public beginning June 3 and continue to July 6, 2009. Please join us for a special Artists Reception on Saturday, June 6th, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

This exhibition explores the boundaries of 21st Century Botanical Art by a collaborative group of the region’s most imaginative botanical artists. A variety of subjects and media make this a unique opportunity to see side-by-side interpretations of an historic art form in evolution. This group of 10 artists has created together since 2004, and is now exploring a wider range of images from the natural world.

The featured artists are members of a team that created original work for Botanical Treasures of Lewis and Clark, a May-July 2006 exhibit at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington that was dedicated to the bicentennial of a celebrated American expedition. All the artists have studied at the Corcoran College of Art + Design and count among their memberships the American Society of Botanical Artists and the Botanical Art Society of the National Capitol Region

The Byrne Gallery is heralding summer with fresh new works of botanical art,” said Susan Byrne, the gallery’s owner. “Collectors who while seeking the realism and beauty of traditional botanical art will find a new fresh perspective and be impressed by the quality of this show. They will be proud to have any of these pieces in their homes or offices.”
